Anti Japanese Editorial In Korean News Paper...
Wow Korean editorials are so well planned out...I was going to write a scathing editorial my self about this but the guys over at JapanProbe pretty much summed everthing up.
"In an article posted on the Chosun Ilbo’s website this morning, the South Korean newspaper asked the question “How Ethically Advanced Is Japan?” This is their answer:
While continuing to ignore the pains and calls for an apology by fellow Asians who suffered, Japan has trembled with fear every time the United States, Canada, Germany or other Western nation began criticizing it. Japan may be an economic powerhouse. But when it comes to a sense of morality and ethics, Japan is probably one of the world’s poorest nations.
Ah yes, if you disagree with the way the Japanese government interprets historical events, the entire nation must be morally and ethically “poor.” What fine journalism. Strangely, their Japanese language site’s translation of the final line in the article lacks the anti-Japanese punch of the English version, as Neverland points out:
しかし成熟度や精神年齢の面では、それに見合った発達を遂げることはできなかったようだ。
However it seems as though [Japan’s] development in terms of morals and ethics could not match [it’s economic development].
I have been unable to find any English language articles on the Chosun Ilbo site about the South Korean government’s refusal to step in and save a group of North Korean refugees who have been captured in Thailand and Laos. Since the South Korean embassy is not trying to claim the refugees, they will likely be sent back to North Korea, where they will face certain torture and imprisonment (or execution). One Free Korea has information on people you can write to and complain about this situation. Maybe somebody should also write to the Chosun Ilbo and tell them to stop wasting their time with petty editorials in which they bash the morality of the entire Japanese nation, and instead spread the word about this outrage in Southeast Asia."

So Silly...
One of the silly things that Japan and Korea always tussle over is a bird shitted pile of rocks in the middle of the Sea of Japan. Its a point of pride in Korea where as in Japan the Japanese could care less. Either way the Koreans are always coming up with fabricated maps and letters to prove that it is Korean territory, even though there are maps dating from the 18th century (maybe even earlier) that proves them wrong. Gerry Bevers has a long running series of posts over at Occidentalism on the issue. Today I ran across the latest post, and I got to say it made me chuckle. See for yourself.

YES!!!
Singer and Pop idol Utada Hikaru is getting a divorce.
The story was first run on Yahoo News about her website announcement.
" Japanese pop star Hikaru Utada on Saturday announced on her website that she has divorced husband Kazuaki Kiriya, a video artist, after four and a half years of marriage.
The 24-year-old singer said the divorce, formalized Friday, resulted from differences that had emerged “over the direction they want to head for and the concept of a married couple” and because of lack of communication while they were pursuing their respective careers.
The couple met during the making of Utada’s promotional videos and CD tracks and married in September 2002. In a message on the same website, Kiriya, 38, said he is thankful that they had shared a happy time."

Colorado to use inmates to fill migrant shortage.
"Ever since passing what its Legislature promoted as the nation's toughest laws against illegal immigration last summer, Colorado has struggled with a labor shortage as migrants fled the state. This week, officials announced a novel solution: Use convicts as farmworkers."

Fujiya & Miyagi - Transparent Things
Jesse happened to have hooked me up with this band out of England, and I got say I'm really impressed. I cant seem to pin down their style, but anyone of the jams on this CD could accompany any 70s bank heist or indie hippster flicks. Truely an amazing effort from these lads.

Satoshi Kons new anime is out in theaters here in the United States this may, and if the trailer is any indication this one may give Perfect Blue a run for its money. Hmmmmm wonder if its out on DVD in Japan yet? Even better wonder if it can already be downloaded. But then again seeing it on the big screen is a must.
